What is it that makes a day beautiful to you? Gabriel spent last night with us and was awake this morning before the sun came up. I went into his room to get him so he wouldn’t wake Nana up. The first words out of his mouth were “Papa it sure is a beautiful day.” So I quietly whispered “Gabriel it’s still dark outside you can’t even see the day yet.” To which Gabe said “but it’s already beautiful to me!” That is when the Spirit gently reminded me that sometimes beauty is in the heart not just in the sunshine of the day.

Daniel 9:20-21 says ‘Now while I was speaking and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God in behalf of the holy mountain of my God, while I was still speaking in prayer, then the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision previously, came to me in my extreme weariness about the time of the evening offering. He gave me instruction and talked with me and said, “O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you insight with understanding. “

Do you have a Gabriel in your life? An angel God uses to speak wisdom to your heart. I am blessed to have such a Gabriel except he is a 4 year old human angel whom I love with all my heart! By the way his name is Gabriel. He is my first grandchild whom God often uses to speak beauty and wisdom to my heart. I have learned many lessons about life and myself as I have learned to see it through Gabriel’s eyes. I thought you might also gain something from Gabriel’s perspectives on life so I am going to post the lessons God is teaching me through him from time to time. I hope that you will be blessed with laughter, insight and understanding as you see something about your own life from Gabriel’s (Gabe) way of thinking.

Our life in God rises out of our security in His love, not our insecurity that we don’t love Him enough. Trying harder doesn’t produce a relationship with God it only deepens the sense of condemnation that keeps us from Him. Learning to trust the Father’s love for us is the only thing that will ever transform us. How have we come to spend more time repenting of our lack of love than repenting of our unbelief in His complete unconditional love?

Come out, Come out! Where ever you are! Hiding is the first fundamental behavioral outcome of sin. I hide parts of myself from other parts of me. I hide from other people. And I hide from God. To often the painful fear of feeling our shame causes us to avoid the discipline of confession and forgo the liberty of forgiveness. Shame ignited by fear always leads to coverup. The Gospel is the call to come out and be known and be forgiven. “Where are you…?” Proverbs 28:13
